Inside Amitabh Bachchan’s ₹50 Crore Bungalow Prateeksha! Take A Tour Of Big B’s Luxurious Bungalow That Was Recently Gifted To Daughter Shweta
Amitabh Bachchan transferred the ownership to his daughter Shweta Nanda as a gift and paid a stamp duty of Rs 50.65 lakhs
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is one of the country's biggest stars and owns some of the most luxurious properties across the country including five of his ancestral family homes.
Recently, the superstar transferred the ownership to his daughter Shweta Nanda as a gift. Paying a stamp duty of Rs 50.65 lakhs, Big B released his iconic Rs 50 crore bungalow - Prateeksha.
According to the registration documents accessed by Zapkey.com, the property is located in Juhu Vile Parely Development scheme’s 10th Road and was transferred through two gift deeds on November 08.
The first one was owned by Amitabh Bachchan and his wife and spread across 9,585 square feet valued at ₹31.39 crore. The second was of 7,254 square feet and valued at ₹19.24 crore.
Prateeksha was known to be Amitabh and Jaya’s first bungalow in Juhu which they bought together after the success of Sholay in 1975. The couple along with Big B’s father Harivansh Rai Bachchan and mother Teji Bachchan lived in Prateeksha for a long time until they decided to move to their present home Jalsa which is just 1 km away.
In July 2020, a Gulmohar tree from Prateeksha’s garden was uprooted triggering Amitabh Bachchan to pen an emotional long note in his blog. The actor revealed that the tree was a sapling when the bungalow was purchased 43 years ago. Even the bungalow was named by his father and veteran poet.
“Babuji saw the house as we invited him and Maa Ji to now live with us and named it, Prateeksha... It came from a line of one of his works: “Swagat sabke liye yaha par, nahi kisi ke liye prateeksha”.
Interestingly, Big B’s son Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s wedding was organized at Prateeksha only. Following the passing of Amitabh Bachchan’s parents, the Bachchan clan shifted to Jalsa, maintaining the rooms of his father and mother as they were. In 2017, the BMC served a notice mentioning a potential need for part of the bungalow for road widening, but no action was taken.
